Encroachment Department

The Encroachment / Illegal Construction Eradication Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation is an independent unit, under the control of the Hon. Additional Municipal Commissioner (General). The operations of this department are carried out through 15 regional offices, with overall control managed by the main office at the PMC Main Building, Shivajinagar, Pune.

Objectives:

• Ensure that citizens are not troubled by unauthorized construction and illegal street vendors.
• Declare "vendor zones" and "non-vendor zones" and relocate vendors from non-vendor zones to designated vendor zones.
• Resolve the traffic congestion caused by street vendors in Pune city.
• Remove illegal encroachments by street vendors on pavements, roads, etc.
• Keep areas such as hospitals, railway stations, schools, religious places, government offices, and silent zones free from encroachments by street vendors.
• Grant permission for the temporary installation of structures like Stage and Temporary  assembly halls during festivals, ensuring no traffic congestion is caused.
