Property tax is a levy issued by a government on a person's real or personal property. The property is assessed to give it a value, and then that value is taxed. The amount of tax owed is determined by multiplying the fair market value of the property by the current tax rate. property tax (or millage tax) is a levy on property that the owner is required to pay. The tax is levied by the governing authority of the jurisdiction in which the property is located; it may be paid to a national government, a federated state, a county/geographical region, or a municipality.

Property Tax is one of the major revenue sources of the Pune Municipal Corporation and contributes largely towards all the civic services provided – be it better roads, hospitals, parks or public transport facilities. Property tax department at Pune Municipal Corporation manages the complete tax assessment, collection & billing of all the properties under PMC jurisdiction. Today, there are over 14.85 lakh properties registered under property tax database. Moving ahead, the department has employed GIS-based technologies to improve their property assessment services further. Following are the kinds of properties that are liable to be taxed under property tax department:

<a href="/b/cfc-center">Citizen Facilitation Centre</a> is a one-stop service center for citizens who have to visit government offices for certificates, authentication and other services.
