The "Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Development Scheme" is a state-level initiative launched by the Maharashtra government in the 2018-19 financial year. This scheme aims to develop urban and rural settlements of Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities based on recommendations from public representatives.
Objectives of the Scheme:
- Despite receiving funds under various Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist settlement improvement schemes, many villages and settlements have not received adequate development due to insufficient funds.
- This scheme provides direct funding from the government to areas recommended by public representatives, following the pattern of the Rural Development, Minority, and Urban Development Departments.
- Only proposals submitted by current Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be considered under this scheme.
Implementation Process:
- Proposals received from public representatives will be initially approved at the government level and then forwarded to the District Collector.
- The District Collector will review and submit the proposals to the government for preliminary approval.
- The development projects suggested by public representatives will be implemented by the concerned administrative body, such as:
- Public Works Department
- Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats
- Gram Panchayats, Zilla Parishads
- Other government departments
- After discussions at the government level, final approval will be granted, and the District Collector will proceed with further implementation.
- Only government-approved proposals will receive administrative and financial sanctions from the District Collector as per the terms and conditions of the government resolution.
Government Resolution:
To ensure effective implementation of the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Development Scheme, guidelines have been established under the Government Resolution No. DivSu 2015/Pr.Kr. 347/AJAK, dated 09/03/2018, issued by the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra.
